Detroit Red is a powerful multidisciplinary production fused with the sonic expression of jazz, inspired by the life and legacy of Malcolm X. Through music, performance, and storytelling, the work explores Malcolm X’s enduring significance not only to Black liberation movements, but also to the musicians who shaped and scored the sounds of resistance and cultural transformation alongside their contemporaries.
