Ride With Purpose is a community activism-oriented bike ride, intended to connect neighbors throughout Detroit by holding regular volunteer efforts, and by raising awareness for cyclists and pedestrians in our beloved (motor) city. Our next ride is Wednesday, April 23rd, from 6 to 8pm. We’re partnering with Detroit Jericho to celebrate Mumia Abu-Jamal’s bday a day early by creating a special gift for him. Mumia is a political prisoner, journalist, author, and activist who’s been fighting for human rights and Black liberation since the 70s. Last year, we took pictures around the city and sent him a photobook. We’re doing that again this year, starting at Mama Akua Community House, and riding a 10-mile loop to the river and back. Along the way we’ll take pics of the beauty we see daily in our city. The goal is to show Mumia that we’re still out here fighting.
We typically meet on the 4th Wed of the month. Our 2025 schedule is attached.
